Yorkshire and the Studio at Ednas Place, Ackworth 1973-1985
A period during which the use of charcoal and pencil to capture local scenes dominated my work and the colour became less importat and even irrelevant. Gradually, after several years of just drawing, coinciding and influenced by the considerable changes that were taking place in both my professional and personal lives, colour was to return again within two large bodies of work - the Cwmaman and Glynrhedynog Series. This was also when the working environment of the studio became increasingly more important to me than any single painting and drawing produced.
