Cornwall (Poltesco valley) and Tuscany (Casole d'Elsa) 1989-1992
In 1983 we moved our family home from Yorkshire to Cornwall where by accident we had discovered the Poltesco valley on The Lizard peninsula. Although since then life has presented us with a few surprises, our love for the valley, its cove and the surrounding area have never diminished. The beauty of the location, combined with its tranquillity, provided me with the ideal setting to take stock of my work and expand new ideas. As a result I produced several important series, all created within a few hundred yards of my home and studio. In 1986 I was invited to teach at the Centro d'Arte Verrocchio in Tuscany. This was to be the start of an important personal and professional association with the Centro itself, Casole d'Elsa where it is located and the farmhouse Corbino in the valley below.
